Rogaine

Rogaine and Regaine are two brand names of minoxidil, a medicine initially used for treatment of high blood pressure. It was soon discovered to have the interesting side effect of hair growth and reversing baldness. Now used as topical solution Rogaine is one of the more effective treatments for hair loss. The mechanism by which minodixil promotes hair growth is not really understood, but the good thing is that it seems to work where it is applied.
Some people on the internet have used it to grow beards. I have not found any records of someone using Regaine for chest hair growth, so my experiment will be the first (or at least the first documented). The bad thing is that you have to use it for 3-4 months before you can start to see results. I am around month 2 now, so I probably still have to wait.

Yes, rogaine will grow more hair on your chest. I have been applying since 2006. It does take time to see results, so patience is necessary. Be careful about applying, start with small doses and make sure to read all side effects on rogain to be safe. But please note that if you do this it WILL increase other body hair over the body since the med is absorbed by the skin into the blood stream and goes systemic. IE can increase back hair, butt, legs, arms, etc. Also, it does grow faster EXACTLY where you apply it so make sure your app area is consistent every time or you can have uneven growth.

What is interesting is that for the 2 months I've used minoxidil 5% on my chest: my bush, happy trail and butt hair has all become thicker and fuller. Not to mention the extra hair on my shaft and balls.
Chest hair seems to come along a little slower

I tried this, and my results have been disappointing... but informative. I have found that Rogaine works really well for increasing hairiness- in areas with some hair already! My forearms went from lightly hairy to rather bushy. But my chest (which was practically bare) has only grown a few dozen hairs in two years of regular use. Anoter very important point guys seems to miss- Rogaine will not increase your hair _density_! (Hairs per square inch) It will make hair grow longer, thicker, but it will not add new follicles!

i am a girl of 22
.my boyfriend wishes i had some sideburns as i have none!he thinks girly sideburns look sexy on girls!my sideburn area is bald!would Rogaine help me grow some sideburns?!

So, if I have fine hair everywhere, but only light coarse hair in various places, is it safe to assume if I use rogiane on my chest, all that fine hair could become coarse everywhere, not just my chest? Also, if I gain a good amount of chest hair, can I stop using the rogaine and keep the hair? Or do I always have to take it or it falls out?

I have been using Rogaine on my stomach and chest for just over two months and am noticing hair growth, especially on my stomach and lower abdomen. Also noticing more hair growth on my forearms, legs, nut sack and bush. Something is definitely working so I intend to keep applying it and see where this goes.

Anonymous said...

I use it on chest, back, nuts, and crotch. Dudes, it works! My shaft, nut sack, and crotch is covered in grey prick hair. Lots of hair on my asshole, too. Do you guys like grey crotch hair? I feel like a man now!

Thanks man! I started using Rogaine three years go. I'm a mature guy, that had some hair around my asshole mostly. After rubbing it on my nut sack and crotch, the hair is growing thick and wild. I only had two or three strands on my balls. Now, my whole sack is covered in grey hair. Yeah, my crotch is getting grey dude.I like bending over to admire and slather on this aphrodisiac. I feel that getting older is getting me hairier and hornier. Its fun looking at myself in the mirror to see my new virility! Now, I can prove that I'm a man. Keep those comments coming, guy!

This is an update of my anonymous 8/15/2016 comments. I am now in month four of Rogaine on my chest and stomach. Seeing lots of new hair growth, especially on my lower stomach and treasure trail. Also, the hair is becoming darker so I am definitely encouraged and will continue the experiment. Seeing increased hair growth on my crotch and nut sack and butt crack and more on my arms so Rogaine going systemic seems likely.

Great news, guy! You will be a man, with crotch hair, a thick man bush, and hairy nuts. My big stomach is hairy now. Yes, I am a mature guy with a thick man bush growing bushier every day. Slather it on your erogenous parts in front of a mirror, and you will feel excitements leading to sensual delights.you will definitely become more sexy for you and your partners! Now in month 5 of my Rogaine on the chest and stomach and hair growth is continuing, especially on my stomach. Getting the start of an observable (ie: hair is getting longer and darker) treasure trail and hair growth around and below my navel is getting longer and darker. Not much is happening on my chest area yet but I will continue using Rogaine there. I did see a couple of small hairs growing around my nipples however. I would post a picture but it's very difficult to get the hair to show as yet. Overall, I am pleased with my results.

I'm 35 and I have hair on my chest, butt, arms and legs... my shoulders are starting to get hairy. I'd like to be completely covered in hair, even my back. Do you think I should try Minoxidil? How do you apply it? Will this make me balde?

GettinHairier said...

Hey 35 Anonymous.....Minoxidil couldn't hurt if getting harrier is what you want. From what I have read, however, it will not create new hair follicles, only reactivate existing ones. So, if you have hair follicles on your back, you should start seeing some hair growth. Your problem will be how to get the Minoxidil on your back. It does seems to go systemic (gets into your blood stream) so that might also be a plus for you. I'm getting some fairly good results on my stomach but not so much on my chest. Also seems like my butt crack and bush are getting thicker as well as forearms. Hope this helps.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll try it as my body is covered in follicles, although the hairs on my back are very thin. My forearms and butt crack are currently quite hairy, what means I can get something really bushy, hehehe... well "i'll take the risk", hehehehe.

GettinHairier said...

Update: I'm now in month six of my Rogaine regimen and getting more hair on my stomach, navel area, and treasure trail. Growth seems to have slowed a little but some hair is getting darker and the hair seems to be getting longer. More "fuzzy hair" forming on my upper stomach. I can see how this could be a multi-year process to get really furry. Not seeing much on my chest although I apply Monoxidil there twice daily. Really ready to get to one year to see how much hair I can grow.

GettinHairier said...

Month seven update: Growth appears to have slowed a bit but noticing much longer hairs growing on my stomach and navel area and some darkening of most of it. Also just noticed small hairs sprouting on my nipples but very small at this stage. Still not seeing my of anything on my chest. I am continuing to apply twice daily as before.

Dan said...

Hi guys, I want to apply Minox on my chest for a few months and see if I can grow some chest hair.
Some say it's dangerous, as it's really close to the heart. Can you share your experiences please?
Have you had any considerable side effect from it?
I would appreciate any answer... I really wanna do it but I'm a bit concerned at the same time.
Thanks a million - Dan

GettinHairier said...

Dan....

I have not had any side-effects from applying Minoxidil to my chest and stomach areas other than the fact that hair is now growing in some of the areas. Do you have some chest hair already? (I did not have hair there but did have some fine hair on my stomach which is increasing and darkening. No hair yet on chest.) If so, Minoxidil will certainly activate the hair follicles there and elsewhere. I believe it goes systemic as I have noticed more body hair in my groin area (bush, sac, and butt crack) as well as more hair on my arms. Other than that, no bad side effects. Go for it.

Unknown said...

GettinHairier thanks a lot...
I basically have none, maybe 10 hairs! I'll give it a try then...
I just need to wait and see. Every body is different isn't it
I hope that my Mediterranean genes will help as well.
I'll let you know what happens. Cheers mate

GettinHairier said...

Dan...good luck to you.

Anonymous said...

Yes I use it on my chest and under arms. Not only do those areas get hairier, so are other areas like my legs, shoulders and butt. It does have systemic effects; and I am a pharmacist. So I know it works both as a health professional and speaking from a personal experience.

GettinHairier said...

Hey Anonymous Pharmacist.....glad to hear you are confirming what I have experienced in terms of safety. I am going into month 8 of Minoxydil and the going is slow. I can see how this is indeed a long-term project to achieve any meaningful level of hair growth. But, I am in fact getting hairier on my stomach and upward toward mid-chest. How long have you been applying it?

GettinHairier said...

After anonymous pharmacist posted his comment about applying Minoxidil on his underarms, I just noticed that the hair in my arm pits is much more dense and darker although I have not been applying Minox there. More of that systemic effect I guess. Overall, as of 1/28/17, slowing getting hairier.

GettinHairier said...

I seem to have reached some sort of plateau with regard to continued check and/or stomach hair. Still applying it twice daily....no hair as yet on chest and stomach hair seems to have slowed. I am in month 8 of this process so not sure if this is indeed a slowdown. FYI...I started testosterone injections about a year ago, before this experiment which started in June 2016. Experiment continues.

Hey Anon Pharmacist, I broke out (Rash) from minoxidil, although it was a Costco Brand. Should I try REAL Rogaine, or will I break out with that too?

GettinHairier said...

Month 9 of my growing chest/stomach hair project using Rogaine. Hair is slowing getting darker and longer on my lower stomach and upward treasure trail to my sternum. No hair as yet on my chest although I did notice a couple of hairs had sprouted around my nipples. Hair is also getting thicker on my forearms and legs and groin area. I tried taking a picture of my stomach but couldn't get the hair to show up well. The project continues.

Anonymous said...

GettinHairier. I have lots of small fine hairs on my chest, but it doesn't show up if you get more than a few feet away. Do you think Rogaine would help get my chest hair thicker and thus more visible? Would love to be really hairy. Hair on my belly is longer and darker and a bit thicker already. Really hairy with thick hairs around my nipples currently.

Sound like it would help me. Thoughts?

GettinHairier said...

Hey Anon from April 30th.....If you already have fine hair on your chest, I am thinking using Rogaine will increase that hair there. Give it a try. It does take a while, however, but I do think you'll see results. It will also increase the hair you already have on your stomach as well as the hair on your nipples. It also seems to go systemic so expect more hair on other parts of your body....especially in your groin area. Good luck!!

GettinHairier said...

Update...I have shaved all the new hair on my stomach and treasure trail twice and will probably continue for a couple of weeks as I have read that shaving what you have will make the hair come back thicker and darker but will not increase the number of hairs. Continuing to apply Minoxidil twice daily on the shaved areas. Hopefully, this shaving will make my new hair show up better and thicker and darker. Also applying a really substantial amount of Rogaine each treatment. Hair on my butt crack is really getting thick as is growth on my groin area. Onward and upward...month 10 of this experiment.

GettinHairier said...

Well, here I am almost at month 11 of my Rogaine experiment. I have shaved the hair on my stomach and treasure trail twice now in the hope of getting it to grow out stronger and darker. I am seeing little sprigs of hair coming out that do in fact look thicker and darker. Still using Minoxidil (Rogaine) twice daily and still think it's working...just not as fast as I'd like. So, if you try it, be patient and keep at it.

GettinHairier said...

Today marks the one year project of growing chest/stomach hair with Rogaine. I have shaved the new hair three times now and it appears to be coming back in thicker and maybe a little darker than the original new hair. Still no hair on my chest so there may not be any follicles there. I continue to apply minoxidil twice daily and continue taking the .6 ml testosterone injections weekly. I have been using a generic brand of minoxidil which I am thinking may not be as effective as Rogaine even though it's the same strength (5%) as the Rogaine I was using so thinking I will go back to Rogaine when this runs out. This is definitely a long-term project but I plan to keep at it.

GettinHairier said...

Month 13....hair is coming back darker but not as strong as I'd like. Still applying minoxidil twice daily and taking my .6ml testosterone injection weekly. This is definitely going to be a long-term project.

FutureHairy said...

Hey GettingHairier. I have minoxidil 10% laying around, Where did you get your Testosterone injections boughts. I am slowly starting to consistently rub the 10% on my stomach and chest. I'll try and post updates here weekly, been doing 5% on my beard, that made me start growing back hair, I also want to be so hairy!

Anonymous said...

Hey, GettinHairier. I'm currently lookin' for your next update, and also wanna note that some scholars claim that all hairs gained from Rogaine will fall out after stopping the treatment. Have you ever experienced hair shedding in other areas of your body?
I have body hair pretty much everywhere, but most of it is still represented as a peach fuzz. Most intense in the chest, upper back and shoulders area. I have my legs fully covered in terminal hairs, lower and part-upper arms, knuckles, as well as patchy beard. Wanna be as much hairy as possible.

Page bookmarked, now looking forward for your reply.

Cheers, Big Brother.

GettinHairier said...

FutureHairy.....where are you getting 10% minoxidil? I thought the 5% was the most you could buy over the counter. I have the testosterone prescribed by a urologist that I go to....not buying gray market. It's very dangerous to inject testosterone without periodic blood tests to check your prostate PSA stats. But I do think that Rogaine brand minox is the best as opposed to generic versions.

GettinHairier said...

Hey Big Brother....I haven't quit using the Rogaine in the 13 months of my experiment so I have not had any hair loss. But, wherever you have any kind of hair now, fuzz or regular hair, Minox will increase that hair but it will not create new hair where there are no follicles. Sounds like you could be a good candidate for "beardom"...woof. I do think using the Rogaine brand is better than generic versions and the weekly testosterone injections also enters into the equation. But, it does go systemic so expect increased hair growth in your butt crack, arms, legs, nut sack, etc. Let me know how your experiment goes. I AM getting hairier so keep at it. It's not a quick process just so you know.

FutureHairy said...

Hey GettinHairier... Is it it easy to get a docter to get me testosterone injections? How can I do I get my doctor to de the tests on me?I know osmeone else who got his doctor to inject himn. I also want to get as hairy as some on this planet... woof ;)

Yeah I've seen an increase in body hair over the time i've been using minoxidil. especially on my legs where the hairs look like they are growing up my leg, my arms are getting a bit more black from my hands up. I have now tiny hair every where on my shoulder, up my back and lower back, I also bought Rogain 10% on internet, but don't worry I'm not one of them clicking on the first website and buying the product. I look carefully at reviews, comments, stars. Do I just use the 10%?

GettinHairier said...

FutureHairy: I found out my T level was very low two years ago and my primary care doc sent me to a urologist who put me on a 0.6ml injection of testosterone once weekly. I'm not sure if a doctor would prescribe injections unless you are low on testosterone already based on blood work. Sounds like you are already seeing lots of growth based on your comments. Will look for 10% on the net.

Big Brother said...

Hey, GettinHairier. I don't use any rogaine percentage currently, i just keep my skin exposed to the sunshine and drink lots of water. Some of my chest hair starts to go darker, but most vellus hair is still extremely short and almost completely invisible, so that's a really long road of my hair development ahead.
I'm currently thinking about using rogaine in future, just wanna have some more updates from comrades here.
Also, as i heard, shaving doesn't make your hair grow back thicker at all so, if this really helps you, then you may shave, if you see no difference, then just don't shave at all.

Looking forward for your updates.

Cheers, Big Brother.

GettinHairier said...

Big Brother! Good to hear from you. Shaving WILL make whatever existing hair you have come back in thicker and perhaps darker but it WILL NOT increase the number of hairs because that's based on the hair follicles already there. I shaved three or four times and my stomach hair has come back in with thicker hair shafts and darker. I have also gone back to Rogaine brand minox. I still do not have hair on my chest, just my treasure trail and lower stomach so I guess I do not have any follicles on my upper chest. I have gotten hairier on other parts of my body though such as forearms, pubic area and butt crack. So, if you want to "bear up", start the Rogaine and use it twice daily.

Big Brother said...

Hey, GettinHairier. Yeah, you are, most likely, right about becoming a bear. I just stopped my "expose skin to the sunshine and drink lots of water" experiment, because the results were much more worse than i expected. I got about seven (lol) single, very short and semi-terminal (not as thick as my natural chest hair growing around my nipples) hairs scattered across my chest, and that's all. Definitely not what i desire to have. Now i decided to start much more serious business here.

Just bought a bottle of Kirkland 5%, currently applying it ONLY on my upper chest and lower neck area (i want my beard grow all the way down and connect to my currently non-existent chest hair). Applying 0,5 ml twice a day.
By now i have used it for about a week: NO results YET.
I will continue my experiment until the bottle ends, hoping to get at least a damn peach fuzz here, just to make sure the follicles actually exist in this area (my skin appears to be very sissy-girly smooth there, can't feel any hair).

I will keep you updated about my progress, as well as waiting for your updates too. Stay hairier.

Cheers, Big Brother.

GettinHairier said...

Hey Big Brother...Get started on the Minoxidil plan and stay with it. I am now into my 14th month on minox and starting to see real results. Will probably shave my treasure trail and navel area again in the hope of seeing it come back in longer, thicker and darker. Just remember, this is a LONG-TERM proposition so keep at it. Just noticed some new hair coming in around my nipples but not in any great numbers. Also, when I apply it, I vigorously rub it in to stimulate blood circulation and the follicles. If I can take a pic of my stomach where the hair is showing, I will post it here. So, stay with it!

GettinHairier

Big Brother said...

Hey, GettinHairier. I'm glad to read it, really encourages me a lot. Because today is my week two mark of Rogaine usage and still nothing on my upper chest/lower neck area. Also, i noticed some initial hair shedding in my beard, so this thing probably starts working. I continue to use it, but decreased dose a bit, due to my personal experience of rapid heartbeat and really annoying headache in the middle of second week of applying.

It would be really interesting to see not your abdomen but arm photos instead, did you had any arm hair before treatment, and how much it got thicker through this year? Is this hair still noticeable far away from you? Finally, how long is it in cm, did you measured?

I have natural arm and knuckle hair, my arms is even a little bit hairier than average i guess (just a little) but the downside is that it is light brown in color as well as hair strands themselves being very thin, making it appear almost completely invisible even a meter away from me.
In the same time, my natural leg hair is just gorilla's. Again, light brown is the main color there, but my legs is just so hairy and this is extremely noticeable. My main goal would be very hairy chest, as well as my arm hair being just like my leg hair. That's all i want. I don't care much about abdomen/back/shoulder hair. If i will get it then nice, if not, well, it's okay too.

Cheers, Big Brother.

GettinHairier said...

Month 16 update: I continue seeing an increase in hair growth on my lower stomach and treasure trail. Some of the hairs are about a half inch in length and seem to be getting more dense. The hair in my groin area is going crazy...very bushy and much thicker. Also the hair on my arms continues to thicken. Am going to shave the entire stomach area again to see if the hair shafts will come back in thicker and darker. I tried taking a picture with my phone but the results did not adequately show the growth pattern so will keep trying. The project continues.

I made a youtube video for using Minoxidil to grow chest hair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT7pQoofR9U. I don't know if i will expand it to trying other methods to grow chest hair. This blog is inspirational, you guys are amazing.

GettinHairier said...

Hey Brennan: Just watched your video on youtube.....Glad you are going to do this. You are starting out with a lot more hair than I started with and if you already have fine hair on your upper chest, I think the Rogaine will increase those. At almost 17 months into my project, I'm seeing more growth but wish the hair was thicker and darker. I have shaved it three times and it seems to come back out a little thicker (hair shafts) and darker so will be periodically shaving and applying Rogaine twice daily. Expect a lot of hair on other parts of your body such as your pubes, testicles, and butt crack...arms too. Will be watching your videos. Best of luck to you.

GettinHairier said...

Hey all you wannbe bears....I will post pictures if I can get some decent ones since my progress has been slow, but long-term. I started out with virtually zero hair (visible) on my stomach and treasure trail. What I have developed over 17 months is a lot more hair although it's not as dark and thick as I'd like. I will try to take pictures to show my arms and stomach. Expect over long-term use the following: increased forearm hair, pubic bush hair, hairier nuts and ass-crack, and in my case thicker arm pit hair. So far, not much in the way of chest hair so maybe I don't have follicles there to grow hair. Have shaved the stomach three times now and plan to continue since that seems to result in thicker (hair shafts, not more hair) results. Remember, twice daily, half a dropper full or more, and rub it in vigorously. Pics when I can get good ones. good luck.

GettinHairier said...

Addendum to my last post: I just shaved my entire stomach, treasure trail, and arm pits. Will be shaving these areas weekly for the next month in the hope of getting the hair to come back much darker and hair shafts thicker. Will be applying minox to all these areas daily as a routine.

Alexander Crump said...

I have been applying Minoxidil 5% to my legs for about three months in an attempt to get more hair on my legs. When I was young, I had pretty hairy legs, and then at some point in my 40s I noticed that it was getting sparser and less coarse. I attributed this to andropause.

I am using a lot of this stuff. I stopped using the dropper and instead use a pump spray. I am going through about one bottle a week if I apply to both legs generously morning and night, from the top of my thighs/quads to my feet.

I am seeing some improvement but nothing really dramatic. No noticeable increase in other axillary hair or hair on my face. I plan to continue this for at least 6 months.

I am not having any side effects but I do feel it working after I apply it. It definitely increases circulation in my legs and they feel warm after applying.

Since I used to have a lot of leg hair, I am hoping this will jump start the growth.

Alexander: Good to see you have joined this discussion. I am now in month 18 and if you read my posts, I am getting results. But, you have to know that the growth you want will not happen overnight. Patience will be needed to get the results you want. I too used to have a lot of leg hair and mine pretty much disappeared as well by the time I was in my late forties. It is starting to come back but very slowly and not as thick as I'd like so far. I AM getting a lot hairier on my arms, groin, arm pits, as well as my lower stomach. But no hair on my chest so I guess I have no follicles there. Anyway, keep it up for the long-term.

I am also supplementing with 20,000 mcg biotin, zinc, pine pollen, stinging nettle root, and B6 to maximize testosterone and DHT. I have zero chance of MPB so I'd like to get the DHT as high as possible.

Alexander: You are still pretty young I think but have you had your testosterone levels checked by your doctor? Mine were at 155 two years ago and my doctor sent me to a urologist who put me on once weekly injections. My current free T level is around 750 which is a good level for me. Young men (teens and early twenties men) can have T levels as high as 1100 range or more, hence all the hairy legs when we were young.

I've been using Costco 5% minoxidil for a little less than three months, on gaps in my beard, eyebrows, armpits, arms, chest and stomach, usually twice a day, sometimes only once. The package of six bottles from Costco is sold as a six-month supply. I've been going through it way faster than that, so the six month supply lasts maybe six weeks. I have not experienced any side effects such as heart palpitations or headaches. It does make the skin on my chest and arms dry and sometimes a bit itchy.

I am 61 and my beard and body hair have been the same for decades. Here is the three month status report:

Beard - starting point - the beard is okay but there's a big hole on my chin, the moustache only weakly connects with the cheeks and the moustache doesn't grow all the way up to my nose so it's not a big toothbrush like I want. Three month results - the moustache has grown a few new hairs connecting with the nose in the middle, a few new hairs on the cheeks and a few on the chin. Slight visible progress, long way to go;

Eyebrows - starting point - they are light and I wish they were thicker, bigger and bushier. Three months results - eyebrows look fuller and the hair has darkened but they haven't expanded coverage;

Arms - starting point - some hair but very fine and lightly colored with no hair on the backs of my hands or the underside of my forearms. Three months results - existing hair looks darker, a little longer and more coarse. Maybe a few new hairs or maybe it's just my hopeful imagination;

Armpits: starting point - hair is such a fine wispy texture it's almost invisible. Three months results - hair looks a bit darker and coarser, especially the right armpit. Some progress;

Chest, abdomen, shoulders: starting point - there is a furry patch between my pecs and little tufts around my nipples. It used to be more visibly hairy but now all the hair has turned white and gotten thin and wispy. There is fine blond peach fuzz all over my chest, shoulders and back but it is only visible when light shines on it against a dark background. Three months results - Existing hairs on my chest and abdomen seem to have darkened, lengthened and thickened. Perhaps a few new hairs have grown or maybe just my imagination.

Legs: I had some hair on my legs when I was a teenager but it was never strong and fizzled out altogether since my 40s. If the minoxidil works on my upper body, I will switch to my legs once I consider the job is done up there.

Overall conclusion after three months: a little visible progress but I'm still wondering if it's just my hopeful imagination. If I get the results I want, I won't need to guess. Judging from the quantity of minoxidil I'm using, there seems no danger at all of getting too hairy or experiencing side effects.

I am taking natural testosterone boosters, no direct testosterone treatment. I've never had a test of my testosterone levels. Also doing free weight training with large muscle group compound exercises, which is supposed to raise testosterone.

I want to be hairy and that's just my personal preference. Don't tell me I should just be happy with what I've got. If I can change it, why shouldn't I?

I get your interest in wanting to be a hairy dude, but I also recognize that there are limitations based on your own genetics. I would love to have a chest covered in dense, dark fur, but I know that it just won't happen based on my genetics. None of the guys in my extended family look like that. However, when I was young, I had really hairy legs, and that trait is evident in some of the guys in our family. I think the potential is/was there, so I am focusing on that aspect of the Minoxidil therapy. I am seeing some good results with that. I am also taking anything and everything I can that supposedly elevates testosterone and DHT. Just applying the Minoxidil to my legs liberally twice a day, I go through about a bottle a week. I found a screw-on non-aerosol sprayer that is just the right size for those small bottles, so it's a lot easier to cover my legs with the stuff, particularly as the hair is getting longer and coarser. I agree about the drying effect of the liquid. What I typically do wear shorts around the house for about an hour after applying and then slather on aloe vera gel to combat the dryness. That works under dress pants and casual pants without feeling greasy. I am a runner and when I wear my very short running shorts, my legs are looking better and better with time. I work out with a lot of leg resistance training so they are quite muscular, and I am getting the dark, dense hair that covers my thighs and lower legs so I feel more masculine. I am 52 but I feel much younger than that.

WannaBeABear...happy to have your join our discussion. I am now in month 18 of my hair growing journey using Rogaine. I am apply it to my chest, stomach, and underarms. I have, as I have outlined above, shaved my stomach and underarms on several occasion in the hope of having the hair shafts come back in thicker and darker and am seeing some progress although not as much as I had hoped for by this time of the project. Still no hair on my chest so I guess I have no follicles there but am seeisng a lot of growth on my stomach upward to my solar plexus area and treasure trail downwards into my pubic area. As I mentioned earlier, a lot more hairy on my forearms, bush, balls and butt. Also in my ears and nose but have a trimmer for that. No other noticeable side effects other than skin dryness. I continue my weekly .6ml testosterone injections in addition. Just remember, this is a long-term project. Best wishes for your success.

Alexander Crump, yes, I get that individual genetics make a big difference. I never had hairy legs like you did when you were younger, so no doubt your legs will get extremely hairy using minoxidil. I have seen the quickest visible progress where there was some hair already - the light hair on my arms has gotten visibly longer, thicker and darker and ditto for my eyebrows and armpits. What's much slower to happen, or maybe never, is where there was no visible hair at all to start with, like the too big empty space on my chin and the underside of my arms. My guess, based on what other people have posted, is it takes a year or more to stimulate, first, the growth of fine vellus hair, and eventually, the replacement of vellus hair with terminal androgenic hair. There are hair follicles everywhere on the outer surface of the body except the eyeballs, lips, palms of the hands, soles of the feet and the head of the penis. If all the body's hair follicles were fully activated we would all turn into wookies. I would use minoxidil on my legs like you are doing, but I am already using so much on my upper body (one of those Costco foam cans lasts about 5 days) I figure it's not a good idea right now. You seem to be using about the same amount on your legs. My upper body was already pretty well covered with fine vellus hair before I started using minoxidil, so I am optimistic that I will have a hairy upper body in a year or so. Hopefully, the systemic effect will spread some hair growth to my legs also, or else I will look like a bear who shaves his legs! Then it will be time to switch from upper to lower body application.

WannaBeABear said...

Hey GettinHairier, thanks for your comment. You're right that minoxidil works much faster where there was some visible hair already, but remember that there are hair follicles everywhere on the external surface of the body except the lips, eyeballs, palms of the hands, soles of the feet and head of the penis. If there is already some weak terminal hair or fine vellus hair in a particular area, you are already halfway there and the minoxidil will work much faster. If there is none, it will take a lot longer or maybe not work at all. The genetic difference between individuals is how the hair follicles respond to androgen. If you are a Caucasian, even if you are not hairy, you have relatives who are, and it isn't such a big leap for minoxidil to wake up those sleepy hair follicles. If you are Chinese or native American, you may not get much hairier even if you bathe in minoxidil.

Hi all, i am using minoxidil twice a day on my chest 2 ml. per day in the morning and before i go to bed, but at 4 o'clock in the afternoon i rub onion juice on my chest, abdomen y shoulders and this has helped me quite a lot. onion is well known to be rich source of sulphur. Is extremely beneficial for healthy hair growth. you can check 2 pictures of mine.

Hi GettinHairier and everyone else here, I'm about to start the process of applying rogaine to my lower stomach and bush, to try and get a thicker bush and a happy trail. Thanks for al the useful info on this blog, it's been really helpful, and I hope you all progress to become even hairier!

GettinHairier said...

Hey Anon dated 1/7/18....just remember this is a long-term project and apply it twice daily. It will work but you have to keep at it. I started June 2016 so it will be two years this coming June. I have more hair now and I think it's getting thicker and darker but it's not as thick as I had hoped. So, my project will continue for some time to come. Good luck.

Hey Gettin Hairier, I know it's going to be a long process. I'm now on my fifth day of application to my lower stomach and bush, and I think I may be starting to see some results. It might just be a placebo, but I've noticed a few more small, faint hairs round the top of my bush, and a few faint hairs on my happy trail. My existing pubic hair seems to have grown really quickly too, but it's still very early. hoping the new hairs, after a while will become thick and dark like you said, but I think this will be a long project for me. i'll keep you updated on any changes that happen.

Hey Anonymous, any additional hair growth you see after a week of using minoxidil is just your hopeful imagination. I've been using it for about 4 months now on the gaps in my beard, my arms, armpits, chest and abdomen. The arms and armpits are noticeably hairier, there is additional growth on my chest and abdomen but it's taking its time to develop, and I have maybe two dozen additional beard hairs. Minoxidil works fastest where you already have some hair. It's much slower to produce results where there is no visible hair to start with. The good news is there is more hair all the time, but it's a slow process.

Hey Guys....just an update.. I started taking anastrozole to counter the estrogen production (my nipples were so tender I could hardly stand my shirt to touch them.) that sometimes occurs when you are on testosterone injections. 1/4 tablet twice weekly by prescription. As a result, I am seeing the hair in my armpits going crazy...much thicker, denser, and darker than it was. Also, more hair forming on my stomach and lower abdomen and it seems to be darkening as well. Still no hair on my upper chest so thinking that will never happen and I'm almost 21 months into this process.

I'm Milo - My first time posting here... I'm 10 months into applying Minoxidil 5% foam to my chest, and I am getting some results. I originally had some hair at the center of my chest that is slowly spreading higher and wider. I'm wondering if anyone has tried Minoxidil 10%? It's not readily available in the U.S., but it's available overseas and by Ebay. I've ordered one bottle and thought I might try using it once a day, and continue using 5% the other time. Also, has anyone tried using the dermaroller? I bought one but haven't used it yet. My understanding is that I should wait 24 hours after dermaroller-ing before using Minoxidil again.

Hi everyone. I’ve been using minoxidil on my chest and belly, and I’ve started to notice a wierd side effect. Immediately after applying the minoxidil, I start to get an erection. No joke. It goes away after a couple minutes. After some googling, I found that minoxidil might *cause* erectile dysfunction, but not that it can do the opposite! My best guess is that the minoxidil hits my system and increases blood flow in other parts of the body. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, I’ve read that the new hair falls out again after one stops using minoxidil. But my thinking is that that information is meant for men with male pattern baldness. Those hairs fell from being active into dormancy. Couldn’t it be different for hair follicles that were not (yet) active in the first place? I’m in my early twenties, so I’m probably still gaining body hair naturally. My hypothesis is that minoxidil could just speed up the natural process of gaining hair, and that the hair that’s genetically determined to become active will stay that way after stopping minoxidil. Any thoughts?

Hey Cub C,

We are all using minoxidil for a purpose for which it has not been tested and has not been marketed.

You are young, and I am over 60, so that may be one factor in the difference of results.

I have been using minoxidil for about 6 months now once or twice a day usually, trying to expand beard coverage, and also on my eyebrows, armpits, arms, chest and abdomen.

Results so far:

- very little in the way of new beard expansion. I have been trying to get my moustache to fill in all the way up to my nose and the space under my lip to fill in. A few new hairs, that's all.

- great results on my arms and armpits. The outer side of my arms, which already had a very light coverage of vellus, now has visible, darker hair, and hairs have begun to sprout on the underside of my arms. Nothing on the back of my hands. My armpits are now much fuller.

- Expansion of visible hairy area on my abdomen, which had hardly any visible hair before, but it's not heavy or dark. The area of coverage continues to expand, around my navel. I already had some chest hair which was only visible in a thick long gray patch in the center in between my pecs. Now there is more hair everywhere, especially around the nipples, and there is long peach fuzz spreading over my shoulders.

- My conclusion: there is absolutely no need to worry that you might become too hairy using minoxidil. If you don't have the hairy genes to start with, you will have to be persistent and patient over a long period to see a big increase in facial and body hair, and in places where you had nothing at all - not even peach fuzz - you are unlikely to grow any new hair at all. Your results may differ as a young man because your testosterone levels will be at their peak and your body is naturally getting hairier, within the limits of your genetics.

I have had no experience with getting unwanted erections from minoxidil.

Anonymous said...

Does peach fuzz turn into thicker hair when using minoxidil? I have hair in the common places like crazy (down there, you cant see the skin its that dense), but i have peach fuzz (varying in lengths) around my body. So i was wondering if i use minoxidil, if it will turn them into terminal hairs?
Thanks

GettinHairier said...

Here's my 2 year anniversary update of using Minoxidil 5%. Still no upper chest hair except for several around my nipples. So, I'm guessing I will never develop hair on my upper chest. Abdomen and navel area are now much hairier although not as thick as I wanted. Hair on my arms is much denser and darker and the hair in my arm pits is substantially thicker and longer than before. I have noticed that I now tend to develop ear and nasal hair and have to trim those areas periodically. So, overall, I'd say minoxidil does work although it will not turn you into a really hairy person unless you are genetically disposed to that. My plan is to continue twice daily treatment for the time being to see if long-term use can accomplish the level of hair on my abdomen that I wanted. Anonymous asking about peach fuzz....yes, I think minox will develop those hairs.

Stumbled on this blog. Very interesting and cool. I was almost ready to start Finestride but after doing research I found out that while it regrows hair on your head, it kills off body hair!and since I love body hair, I researched Minoxidil and found this site.

So I am starting my Minoxidil journey.

I stumbled on a website of interest. It stated that adding prescription Retin-A cream (0.05%) to your Minoxidil regime would improve the absorption of Minoxidil. It makes sense. The more open and clean the skin pores are, the more deeper Minoxidil would penetrate.

So I am considering first cleaning the skin with witch hazel to remove all surface dirt and oil from the skin pores, then applying Minoxidil in the morning. In the evening, clean with witch hazel then apply Retin-A cream, then apply Minoxidil.

Now I just need to get a prescription for Retin-A

Will this help me grow more body hair

Unknown said...

You're completely out of your mind to use minoxidil to grow any hair. It is wildly dangerous and stays in the system for years. I did what you fellows did for chest hair and at about the year mark my heart began going nuts. Every time I got horizontal in bed, it would 'wind forward' and skip about two beats for every one beat, can't explain it perfectly but scared the hair right off of me. Go natural or you'll end up dying young after you spend plenty of time in the hospital. Never ever again will I be stupid enough to use a hard ball medication for hair of the skins surface. Totally insane. The heart returned relatively quickly in the following 10 days after I stopped playing the part of a vain moron. Your HEALTH is more important than some FUZZ.

I have a lot of light and short hairs on my chest, almost invisible. Will minoxidil help me to grow nice and big chest hair? What will happen if i stop taking minoxidil? Are other hair for example crotch hair gonna grow up either i won't use minoxidil there?

I found out I had much more success growing body hair when I used a hair brush or comb and went over my skin wherever I put the minoxidil. Just massage really well the skin to get the circulation going good. It really has increased my body hair. Woof, woof.

Hi guys!Iam a 64 year old man who started to use Rogaine about 4 years ago.I want to report that I have had great success using it on my body on these areas: my crotch,my nuts, and asshole, belly, and chest, too. I had just a few strands of hair on my nuts, but now a thick mound of hair grows around the base of my dick. As a mature man,my crotch hair is now grey.when I bend over and look in the mirror I can see a big silver patch of hair covering my asshole, too! I'm really proud of the hair on my chest and
belly, also. My pubic hair is wild, thick, and bushy, too.Having a hairy nut sack and crotch makes me feel like a real man!

Hey All: This is my 2.5 year mark into my growing chest hair with Minox and this is a "report card" for what has happened. I still do not have chest hair after all this time so I am assuming it will never occur there. My armpits are much hairier as is my pubic area and nut sack and probably around my asshole. The hair on my lower abdomen is hairier than when I started but nowhere as thick and dark as I would have wished. Arm hair is more extensive than when I started although the hairs tend to be long and wild instead of tending to lay flat on my forearms. Leg hair growth is minimal. So here's my take...I don't think becoming the hairy person I hoped to become is going to happen. Minox has worked to some degree but not in the amnount I had hoped. Since I take a weekly injection of testosterone, I'm not sure whether the hair growth I have attained to responding to the T or to Minox. I am going to continue to the 3 year mark in June. If nothing better in terms of growth has occurred, I'm going to discontinue the Minox at that point.

Hey guys! This is a bit off topic because I know this topic os around mino. and rogaine etcetera, however as a side project I'm going to try out that method of using the onions and rubbing it on the designated area. I know that they say it's extremely unlikely to work however I want to see if any result occur after my 3 month trial. Probably after I'll switch to mino or rogaine no doubt.i have minor peach fuzz on my chest with a few dark brown sprouts near my nips so hopefully Ill atleast get 1 or 2 sprouts around my chest. Again, I know it's off topic but just a little side project for ya ;). Good luck to others out there aswell using the mini or rogaine! WOOF!

I have been using Kirkland Minoxidil 5% for 3.5 months and it is starting to work. I applied once daily for the first month and then increased to twice daily. I apply it all over my upper chest and pecs and am creating a trail from there all the way down to my pubes.
I started out with a very weak trail from my navel down and nothing above that except for some nipple hair. Now I have a weak trail forming from my navel about halfway up to my pecs and hairs sprouting everywhere I have been applying. The lower trail is beginning to get thicker as well. Most of the new hairs are too small to see without magnification, but there was nothing there before. I am excited to see all this new hair covering my chest and a couple of them have turned black now. I plan to keep up my regimen for 1-2 years to see how hairy I can get. My legs were fairly hairy to begin with, but I see more of it now and on my forearms, too :-)
I really appreciate this forum and the time everyone took to document their experience with the Minoxidil. I will make pics available once the hair starts showing better if anyone would like to see.
